BUILT IN THE SEVENTH ARRONDISSEMENT FOR THE 2024 PARIS OLYMPICS, THE EIFFEL TOWER STADIUM WAS DUBBED THE “GREATEST STADIUM ON EARTH”.
At the foot of the Eiffel Tower, the Paris 2024 Olympics created what global media would soon dub “the greatest stadium on earth.” The 13,000-seat Eiffel Tower Stadium transformed the historic Champ-de-Mars into a spectacular beach volleyball arena that captured the world’s imagination.
However, just weeks before the opening ceremony, the venue faced a critical challenge. The installed seating – sourced from various event hire stocks – presented an inconsistent and weathered appearance that fell well short of the Olympic Committee’s standards. With faded colours, varying textures and surfaces that left chalky residue on clothing, the seating posed a significant risk to both the venue’s prestigious image and spectator experience.
With insufficient time to manufacture and install new seats, and a firm commitment to the Paris 2024 sustainability goals, stadium management needed an innovative solution. They turned to Seat Renew Global, whose technical expertise would prove crucial in transforming this crisis into an opportunity.
What followed was a remarkable three-week, on-site seat restoration that not only saved the venue’s appearance but also aligned perfectly with the Olympic committee’s environmental objectives. This is the story of how innovative thinking, technical expertise, and rapid deployment came together to help create what would become one of the most celebrated venues in Olympic history.
